TONIOLO AWARD 2022 TO YOUTH AND CULTURE IN THE PIEVE DI SOLIGO

CITY OF THE BLESSED

In the year of the tenth anniversary of the beatification of Giuseppe Toniolo, Pieve di Soligo is confirmed as the city of reference for the memory and reflection of current events on the great Treviso sociologist and Catholic economist, whose mortal remains are kept in the Cathedral of the parish of Santa Maria Assunta . This was confirmed by the final ceremony of the Giuseppe Prize Toniolo 2022, held as tradition in the municipal auditorium Battistella Moccia on 7 October last, on the anniversary of the death of the insigne professor of economics politics (1845 - 1918), thanks to the Beato Toniolo Institute together with the diocese of Vittorio Veneto, social pastoral, Catholic Action and parish of Pieve, with the contribution of the city of Pieve di Soligo, in collaboration with the Vite Illustri network and with the patronage of the Province of Treviso.

"A Christianly inspired culture at the service of Italy and Europe, for the common good, following the example of the thought and action of Blessed Giuseppe Toniolo": this is the theme of the seventh edition, which saw particular emphasis on the section young people with awards to two schools in the area between Piave and Livenza, for two parallel initiatives for the enhancement of sacred art and local culture: theComprehensive Institute of the Main Chapel, for the experience of the "Little guides of the Mattarella church", and theAntonio Scarpa Higher Institute of Motta di Livenza, for the realization of the multi-year project of the Guides of the Sanctuary and the Cathedral of the center of Liventino, also winner of the regional competition “Veneto per me” 2020 with the app “The virtual Sanctuary”. The prize offered by the Municipality of Pieve di Soligo, delivered by the councilor Tobia Donadel, was equally divided between the two institutes, represented in delegation by the groups of students and by the coordinating teachers of the specific activities, Silvia Gasparetto for Cappella e Martina Visintin for Motta. Also present on stage were the deputy head of the IC of Cappella, Marta Maset, and together with the mayor and deputy mayor of the same municipality, Mariarosa Barazza and Vincenzo Traetta. All the protagonists of this beautiful page of culture and formative commitment for the younger generations are all excited and grateful, exemplary for the ability to involve and prepare students and for the concrete promotion of the religious and artistic heritage of the local communities.

The Giuseppe Toniolo Prize for the “Action & Witnesses” section was instead awarded to Lanza Foundation of Padua, very active for years on the frontier of ethical reflection and Christian inspired planning with respect to the great themes of cultural, social and environmental change. The Institute award, delivered by the board of directors of Banca Prealpi SanBiagio, Nicola Sergio Stefani, was withdrawn by the teacher Leopoldo Sandonà, coordinator of the ethics and medicine research project of the Lanza Foundation, who expressed deep gratitude for the recognition and outlined new possible fields of action and cultural collaboration at the Padua and Veneto level.

The Giuseppe Toniolo 2022 award for the “Thought” section went to the researcher Alberto Guasco, author of the volume “Giuseppe Toniolo and Pisa (1879 -1918). Reading path ", a text published in June 2022 for the types of Pacini Editore which has the merit of shedding new light on the relationship between Toniolo and the city of Pisa, where he lived and taught for more than half of his life, illuminating the ecclesial and social aspects of this important daily interaction and offering a lucid and documented contribution of analysis and completeness on the existence in the Tuscan city of the professor proclaimed blessed by the Church in 2012. In his greeting, he attested the merits of this book and its historical research value by delivering the Institute award

Blessed Toniolo in Guasco on Bishop of Vittorio Veneto, Monsignor Corrado Pizziolo, who attended for the entire duration of the ceremony and eventually joined the group of all the protagonists for the classic group photo. At the beginning of the evening there was also a heartfelt memory with readings dedicated to Professor Paul Shepherds, one of the greatest scholars of Giuseppe Toniolo, who passed away in recent weeks, with a parchment in homage to the memory intended for his sister Annalisa and niece Giulia for the hands of the family friend Marisa Bergamo, who received the certificate and thanked on the stage.

The harp performances of Jade Dal Cin, during an evening presented by the good Mariapia Fornasier, assisted by the scientific director of the Beato Toniolo Institute, Marco Zabotti, which also saw the tributes of the Prosecco Dogc territory to Guasco and Sandonà by the Colli del Soligo winery and the underlining of the network of adhesions and support to the Institute of an important series of testimonials / sponsors, starting from Banca Prealpi San Biagio which guaranteed the creation of the popular video series "Places of the sacred in the Unesco land". Many and significant were the presence of authorities and representatives of the ecclesial and social world of the territory, together with the councilor Donadel greeted at the beginning of the ceremony by the president of the Beato Toniolo Institute and episcopal vicar for the coordination of pastoral activities donation Andrea Dalcin, who had previously presided over the solemn Eucharistic concelebration and the procession on the tomb of Toniolo in the Cathedral of Pieve di Soligo.

And now the Giuseppe Toniolo Award is already looking to the eighth edition of next year, as the episcopal delegate for social and labor pastoral care explained in the concluding part of the ceremony Fr Andrea Forest: the theme for the three sections of 2023 will be "The fullness of human life and Christian for one "society of saints" and for the rebirth of the community spirit, on the model of the works and days of Blessed Giuseppe Toniolo".
