TONIOLO CARD, FESTIVAL, TONIOLO AWARD: NETWORK OF SUCCESSES WITH THE TERRITORY OF THE BEATO TONIOLO INSTITUTE
A chorality of presences and harmonies on the modernity of the great Catholic economist
Many people from the ecclesiastical and civil community of the area gathered at the press conference in Pieve di Soligo, on the eve of the liturgical memorial of September 4th of the great Catholic economist and sociologist Giuseppe Toniolo, blessed since 2012, born in Treviso and buried in the Cathedral of the city of the Quartier del Piave, at the invitation of the Beato Toniolo Institute. The ways of the Saints. The Toniolo Card – presented for the first time on the occasion, divided into twelve main points that reaffirm the significance and concreteness of the thought and action of the distinguished professor from Treviso – was the shared manifesto that found the support of important actors in the Church, society and the economy of Marca, all engaged with their organizations in the last ten years, in particular, in a constant and profitable relationship of collaboration with the IBT Pievigino.
"Today we reaffirm with strength, conviction and determination the extraordinary concreteness and foresight of the teaching and work of Toniolo - we read in the Toniolo Charter promoted and shared by the Blessed Toniolo Institute - icon and fruitful symbol of life lived in the service of the common good, nourished at the roots of the profound values of freedom, justice and solidarity towards all. And we manifest the commitment, with the incipit "We want", to recognize, assume and promote a series of fundamental values and basic lines of action inspired by Blessed Toniolo, for a new humanism capable of giving answers of meaning, life and hope to the men and women of our time and our communities". After the introductory greetings of the councilor Valentina Lucchetta, by the IBT president Annalina Sartori and of the Pieve archpriest Monsignor Luigino Zago, here are the titles of the twelve points of the Toniolo Charter illustrated by the scientific director of IBT, Marco Zabotti: Fullness of life; Person at the center; Support for families; Centrality of school, culture and training; Primacy of ethics in economics; Business and work for all in safety; New corporate and community welfare; Cooperation in modernity; Social democracy and subsidiarity; Intermediate bodies as protagonists; Peace as a necessary good; Participation in the common good. The episcopal delegate for social pastoral care of the diocese of Vittorio Veneto agrees with the Toniolian manifesto, Don Andrea Forest, who underlined the exceptional contribution of Blessed Toniolo to the history of Christian social doctrine, highlighting in particular the expressed values of the person and the common good. Full appreciation, total harmony and complete adherence to the principles, theses and orientations for the topicality of the Toniolo Charter came in the interventions of the participants at the speakers' table, who highlighted the great contribution of Toniolo to the elevation of the populations of Marca and to the holding of the territory between the end of the 800th century and the beginning of the 900th century, and to the current vision of a truly human economy within a democracy of sociality and subsidiarity: the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Treviso and Belluno Dolomiti, Mario Pozza; representing the president of Banca Prealpi San Biagio, Carlo Antìga, Marta Sclip; the president of the Insieme Si Può cooperative, Raffaella Da Ros; the president of Latteria Soligo and of Confcooperative Belluno – Treviso, Lorenzo Brugnera; the regional secretary of Fai Cisl of Veneto, Andrea Zanin; the president of the Rural Families Association "Giuseppe Toniolo", Alessandro Toffoli; the deputy director of Coldiretti Treviso, Francis Faraon; the president of the Capitale&Lavoro Foundation, Joseph Milan. All the participants had words of praise, satisfaction and gratitude for the activity carried out in network and in synergy with the Beato Toniolo Institute, which has seen many significant cultural initiatives for the animation of Christian communities and civil society realized over the years. They were joined by Cardinal Beniamino Stella from Pieve, who sent a message, read in the hall: in the text, the cardinal underlined that "the twelve Toniolo points are a programmatic reference of high profile and great depth, which illuminates the path oriented towards the construction of a more just and supportive human community, taking example precisely from a life in fullness like that of Blessed Toniolo, who we all hope to see soon recognized as a Saint, venerated by the universal Church". Two other important passages of the press conference concerned on the one hand the ninth edition of the Giuseppe Toniolo Award, on the theme "Participating in the construction of the common good: between democracy and social, the lesson for today of the blessed Giuseppe Toniolo", which will have the final ceremony on October 7th in the Battistella Moccia auditorium of Pieve di Soligo, and the great success of the Festival “Music in the Sacred”, which after nine concerts with the Piccola Orchestra Veneta, conducted by maestro Giancarlo Nadai, in the most beautiful churches of the UNESCO territory of the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene can boast excellent critical reviews for the high-level musical offering and record attendance of 2500 people in total in this phase. It should be noted that the Festival - after the events of Sunday 8, 15 and 22 September - will conclude on 20 October in Pieve di Soligo in a great choral and instrumental event that will also commemorate the first century of life of the Cathedral and the 70 years since the death of the painter and sculptor Marta Sammartini. Meanwhile, for the liturgical memory of the blessed Toniolo – which recovers the date of his marriage to Maria Schiratti in the then archpriestly church of Pieve di Soligo – on Wednesday 4 September the Eucharistic concelebration will be presided over in the Pieve Cathedral at 18.30 pm by the vicar general of the diocese of Vittorio Veneto, Monsignor Martino Zagonel.
