PRESS RELEASE – INVITATION
Final ceremony in Pieve di Soligo (TV) on Tuesday 7 October at 8:45 pm
TENTH EDITION OF THE GIUSEPPE TONIOLO AWARD
There is great anticipation for the announcement of the 2025 winners.
The event will take place on Tuesday, October 7, starting at 8:45 pm, in the Battistella Moccia Auditorium in Pieve di Soligo, located in the central Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II. The closing ceremony of the tenth edition of the Giuseppe Toniolo Award 2025 will be held, primarily sponsored by the Beato Toniolo Diocesan Institute. Le Vie dei Santi, together with the Diocese of Vittorio Veneto, the Social and Labor Pastoral Department, the Vittorio Veneto Catholic Action, and the parish of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in Pieve di Soligo, in collaboration with the Vite Illustri Pieve di Soligo (VIP) network, and with the support of the City of Pieve di Soligo.
This public event returns regularly to host the final evening of the Award, divided into three main sections: this year 2025, the national Pensiero (Thought) section benefits from the contribution of Banca Prealpi SanBiagio, the regional Azione & Testimoni (Action & Testimoni) section is supported by the association Famiglie Rurali Sinistra Piave “Giuseppe Toniolo,” and the diocesan Giovani (Youth) section receives concrete recognition from the City of Pieve di Soligo.
The Prize is named after the figure and work of the great Catholic economist and sociologist born in Treviso in 1845 and died in Pisa in 1918. He was proclaimed Blessed by the Church in 2012 and his mortal remains are kept in the tomb inside the Cathedral of Pieve di Soligo, the birthplace of his wife Maria Schiratti.
This year's theme pays homage to one of the central tenets of the thought and work of the great Catholic economist and sociologist Giuseppe Toniolo, in keeping with the Jubilee of Hope. "Life in its fullness, following the example of Blessed Toniolo, to be a gift to others and pilgrims of hope in the society of our time": this is the title of the 2025 competition, continuing its connection to the figure of the distinguished professor from Treviso (1845–1918), whose 180th birthday we commemorate this year, having been enshrined in 2012.
The Pieve di Reno event has now gained national fame and significance: this is confirmed by the names of some of the winners of past editions, from the Archbishop of Assisi and great scholar of Toniolo Domenico Sorrentino, to the late entrepreneur Leonardo Del Vecchio, from the economist Stefano Zamagni, from the publishing houses AVE of Rome and Vita e Pensiero of Milan to the Grenfellove Marco e Gloria Foundation, from the journalist and writer Antonio Polito to the OIC Foundation of Padua for “Civitas Vitae”, from the professor Alberto Guasco to the young French intellectual Jean de Saint-Cheron, up to the founder of “Immischiati” and president
Gianluigi De Palo Birth Foundation. It also includes the individual figures, the various cultural, educational, and social organizations, and the young students and graduates from the Veneto region and the diocese of Vittorio Veneto who have received this prestigious award over time. The final ceremony on October 7—the anniversary of the Blessed Professor's death and the closing date of the Toniolian Month in Pieve di Soligo—will be preceded at 6:30 pm in the Cathedral by a Eucharistic concelebration presided over by the Bishop of Vittorio Veneto, His Excellency Riccardo Battocchio.
The evening of October 7th, hosted by Elisa Nadai, will feature Bishop Battocchio himself, the mayor of Pieve di Soligo, Stefano Soldan, and delegations from cultural, economic, and social institutions and organizations that have long been associated with the Giuseppe Toniolo Award and the work of the Beato Toniolo Diocesan Institute. The Ways of the Saints, chaired by Annalina Sartori. The theme of the 2026 Giuseppe Toniolo Award will also be presented at the end of the evening.
Media partners for the event are the diocesan weekly L'Azione, the Vittoria-based broadcaster La Tenda TV, and the online newspaper Qdpnews.it. The October 7 ceremony will be livestreamed on the website, YouTube channel, and Facebook channel of La Tenda TV, as well as on the Facebook page of the Beato Toniolo Institute. Information is available on the website www.beatotoniolo.it and by email at info@beatotoniolo.it. Admission to the ceremony is free and subject to availability.
