TONIOLO 2024

On the evening of the Giuseppe Toniolo Award 2024, the lights of self-giving and commitment to others, of solidarity, of the will to create a better society, of the ability to generate innovation, trust and hope from below shine, in line with the theme of the ninth edition of the event held on the evening of 7 October in the Battistella Moccia auditorium in Pieve di Soligo: "Participating in the construction of the common good: between democracy and social, the lesson for today of the blessed Giuseppe Toniolo".
In a crowded and attentive room, the current general director of the Angelini Foundation in Rome, Gianluigi De Palo, former national president of the Forum of Family Associations, now president of the Foundation for Birth and coordinator of Immischiati, the project for the promotion of Christian social doctrine among young people in an unconventional way, was awarded the Giuseppe Toniolo Prize for the national section "Thought", precisely by virtue of his long and fruitful commitment in the ecclesial and social fields. "By placing at the center the primacy of the person, the vitality of the family and the inestimable gift of children for the present and future of the entire community - it was read in the room in the motivations for the prize, offered by Banca Prealpi San Biagio - with his precious cultural work, inspired by the values of Christian humanism, De Palo has been able to give impetus and perspectives to the idea that good politics is generated from the bottom, in a network and with convinced and credible protagonists, feeding the themes of
a solid, mature democracy that is truly everyone's home."
De Palo himself reiterated this in the interview on stage with Marco Zabotti, scientific director of IBT: he relaunched the appeal to the institutions and the entire community "to restore hope to the future of Italy, currently going through a very worrying demographic winter, with support for young couples for family life and the recovery of the birth rate, for which at the moment adequate and effective solutions are not being sought". "I am deeply grateful for this prestigious Toniolo Award awarded to me - concluded De Palo - and I accept it happily in the sign of gratitude for all the gifts I have received in my life as a man and a believer". Banca Prealpi San Biagio also offered the Giuseppe Toniolo Award for the "Action & Witnesses" section, awarded to Roberto Franceschet, president of the Consorzio Pro Loco Quartier del Piave, creator, coordinator and now organizational supervisor of the initiative “Fruit of Social Support”, which since 2001, on the second Sunday of November, has given life to the distribution of organic apple crates in 220 squares in 75 municipalities of the Marca Trevigiana, having now collected almost two million euros donated to the “Il Nostro Domani” Foundation, which welcomes people with disabilities in shelters, apartment groups and co-housing in the provincial territory, thanks to an important and significant work in the network of 160 associations and 800 volunteers. With him on stage also the coordinator of the initiative, Maria Elena Filippi, and the representative of the Foundation, Udino Buso. For De Palo and Franceschet also the gifts of Prosecco DOCG from the Cantina Colli del Soligo of Pieve di Soligo.
To the President of Banca Prealpi San Biagio, Carlo Antiga, represented at the awards ceremony by
director of the Pieve branch, Sonia Antoniazzi, in the year of the 130th anniversary of the foundation of the Cooperative Credit Institute based in Tarzo, the IBT certificate of recognition was awarded for the convinced and concrete support in synergy to the cultural animation paths in the diocese of Vittoria.
As per tradition since the first edition, it was instead the City of Pieve di Soligo, represented on this occasion by the Councillor for Culture Eleonora Sech, to give the awards for the Youth section, attributed respectively to Emma Of The Free andAliestese Association. The award to the young Della Libera, a graduate resident in the municipality of Carbonera, affected by Friedreich's Ataxia, was collected by her parents Annalisa and Italo Della Libera, founders with her of the association "EVERY DAY – For Emma”, who has been involved in the social and scientific fields for several years in favor of all those who, in Italy and in the world, are affected by this disease. Words
gratitude of high value and meaning, in the name of good for others, were expressed on stage by mother Annalisa, after a video had also retraced the important role of care and rehabilitation played by the Medea Scientific Institute of La Nostra Famiglia. Representing the Municipality of Carbonera was the councilor Maurizio Crivellier.
The participation of the large group of young people from the Aliestese association of Vittorio Veneto was engaging and enthusiastic, and they performed well-known songs from their successful musicals, introducing and concluding the evening with joy and vivacity: with 120 members of three generations, as was read in the motivations – the association “testifies to the beauty of being and acting well together and is committed to a better society in the name of hospitality, culture, the arts and communication”.
The president was awarded on stage Andrea Fiorot, who addressed the audience with joy and gratitude, the artistic director Alessandra Zandanel and other young people from the board, with the mayor of Vittorio Veneto present with them, Mirella Balliana.
In his closing speech the Bishop Corrado Pizziolo – who had previously presided over the Eucharistic concelebration in the Pieve Cathedral in honor of Blessed Giuseppe Toniolo on the anniversary of his death – highlighted the examples of goodness valorized by the Toniolo Award, “a reason for trust and hope for the entire community also in view of the Jubilee 2025”.
The final ceremony, presented by Elisa Nadai, began with greetings from the president of the Beato Toniolo Institute. The ways of the Saints, Annalina Sartori, from the same councilor Sech, and from Don Andrea Forest, the episcopal delegate for social pastoral care, who at the beginning outlined a report of the recent Social Week of Trieste and at the end illustrated the general theme of the Award 2025, which will be: “Life in fullness, following the example of Giuseppe Toniolo, to be a gift to others and pilgrims of hope in the society of our time”. The delegations of ecclesial, cultural and social realities of the territory present at the evening were well-nourished, and all the organizing bodies of the Award were involved in the awards ceremony: the Blessed Toniolo Institute, the Diocese, the Social Pastoral, the parish of the Cathedral, with the archpriest Monsignor Luigino Zago, and the 'Catholic Action vittorio, with the vice presidents Valerio DeRosso e Sarah Gasponi.
